SRC ESSENTIAL TOOLS PURPOSE BENEFITS
Career Launch Roadmap A detailed action plan to guide self-motivated students step-by-step through a 35-hour series of internship cultivation and career development endeavors. The vast majority of students either lack a clear sense of direction, urgency or purpose. This Roadmap plots their best and straightest path to success.
Internship Planning Worksheet Involves a structured goal-setting exercise by rating and ranking their motives based on 25 criteria that dovetail into developing search strategies to secure an internship based on pre-defined interests, needs and priorities. It gives students a methodical approach to determine what internship(s) will be most helpful to achieve their career development goals and secure the right opportunity to gain that hands-on work experience.
Intern Learning Plan This natural extension of the Planning Worksheet sets specific learning goals that - in active collaboration with a supervisor – will define responsibilities and set expectations for development to assess, track and revisit often. It is designed to integrate practical experience with classroom learning with an emphasis on fulfilling the inherent requirements of academic credit-bearing experiential education.
Intern Projects Worksheet This natural extension of the Planning Worksheet sets specific learning goals that - in active collaboration with a supervisor – will define responsibilities and set expectations for development to assess, track and revisit often. This sets the stage for students to plan purposeful project work of mutual benefit to their career development and to fulfill the productivity goals of the host site and individual supervisor(s). It – in essence - takes the “Think Work” out of the equation to make it as easy as possible to optimize internship quality, individual experiences and overall return on investment.
Assignment Tracking Sheet A methodical system to organize work projects according to time allocation and deadlines for completion as well as to track and report ongoing progress. Optimizes time management and project organization as well as is a valuable tool for future reference for students to reflect, improve and maintain records.
Career Launch Roadmap Fulfills the capstone requirement to qualify and quantify the internship experience. It employs reflection exercises to assess the extent to which learning goals were achieved as well as guide specific actions to ensure an intern “finishes strong” and ties up any loose ends for their own benefit and that of their employer host site and individual supervisor(s). It enhances opportunities for the student to get the most out of their internship experience. It also facilitates practices for continuous improvement by all parties. In addition, it serves to strengthen the foundation for the student to secure another internship or post-graduate employment in conjunction with the SRC asset on “Transitioning into the Workplace.”
